IT was International Human Rights Day on Dec 10. On this day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone document that reminds us that all human beings, irrespective of race, religion, or gender, are endowed with some fundamental rights and freedoms that are bestowed upon us, not by the charity or generosity of the sovereign state, but from a superior source.
ILOILO CITY – A veteran activist in Panay Island has been released after more than eight months in jail in Iloilo province.
Militant organization Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Panay said Elmer Forro, secretary general, was released on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from the Iloilo District Jail in Pototan town.
