May saw the opening of Estrella Cocina, the first of three new restaurants and a specialty marketplace at the VyStar Credit Union downtown Jacksonville campus. Other notable restaurant news included the opening of an eatery by a popular gourmet boiled peanut chef and the announcement that Dreamette is bringing its famous soft-serve ice cream to St. Johns.
Estrella Cocina
Estrella Cocina, a rooftop restaurant showcasing coastal Mexican cuisine, opened May 27 at the VyStar Credit Union downtown. Located at 100 W. Bay St., it is the first of three new restaurants to open at that location. Coming soon are the Bread and Burger, a gourmet burger, fries and milkshake eatery, the third Bread & Board artisan sandwich shop and Bread & Board Provisions, a specialty marketplace. A St. Johns County issued a permit May 6 for Publix Super Markets Inc. to build its second area GreenWise Market.
Hawkins Construction Inc. of Tarpon Springs is the contractor for the $4.2 million project to build the shell structure of the 38,500-square-foot GreenWise at 170 Village Commons Drive in Parkway Village at St. Johns.
Interior build-out will be permitted separately.
Parkway Village is at Florida 16 and International Golf Parkway in World Commerce Center in St. Augustine. Jacksonville-based Cantrell & Morgan Inc. is jointly developing the project with Stiles Corp. of Fort Lauderdale.
The Greenwise is planned at 170 Village Commons Drive in Parkway Village at St. Johns at Florida 16 and International Golf Parkway in World Commerce Center.
Kimley-Horn and Associate Inc. is the civil engineer.
Concord Hospitality Enterprises of Raleigh, North Carolina, is the developer.
Waste Management in Greenland Business Park
The city issued a mobility fee calculation certificate for Waste Management to build three buildings totaling 41,360 square feet of space on 11.91 acres at 6876 Greenland Industrial Blvd. for a truck facility.
It calculated the fee at $124,204. The property is owned by Parklands LLC.
Contractor for Boeing
Tenant Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the build-out for The Boeing Co. at Lake Gray Plaza in Southwest Jacksonville, according to Craig Meek of The Meek Companies, which manages the property.
