India's aviation ministry informed on Friday that scheduled international flight operations will resume from December 15 after it was suspended in March 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
India has been operating special flights under the "air bubble" agreement with several countries.

India's civil aviation ministry official said today that international flight operations is expected to return to "normal" soon.
"We are making all efforts to handover all operations of Air India by the end of December," aviation ministry official Rajiv Bansal said.

India had suspended international passenger flights in March last year amid the coronavirus pademic.

The Centre started the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ on May 6 to help those stranded overseas due to the novel coronavirus pandemic reach their destinations via international repatriation flights.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, 15,450 repatriation flights were operated by the Air India Group under the Vande Bharat Mission till January 29, carrying over 20.87 lakh passengers. Of these, 7,721 were inbound flights carrying 12.42 lakh passengers and 7,729 were outbound flights with 8.45 lakh fliers.

According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, 15,061 repatriation flights were operated by the Air India Group under the Vande Bharat Mission till January 25, carrying over 20.31 lakh passengers. Of these, 7,527 were inbound flights carrying 12.12 lakh passengers and 7,534 were outbound flights with 8.18 lakh fliers.
