2017, it will be 43 years ago and a lot has happened at that site since then. The park has been developed yearbyyear. Initially, it took about two years to get the buildings out and to put in grass and it is mainly now a grassy space. More money now, i believe in the neighborhood of 60 million has gone into refurbishing the parks further. So not only was the fair beneficial immediately in terms of transforming downtown spokane, but now the better part of 50 years later, there is still momentum that began their that is part of the spirit of that place, the spirit of the place of the middle of spokane falls. I was one of the people severely beaten by the police and made the decision i was going to become a police officer. This was commonplace in detroit. It was probably around that time the naacp attentive to integrate , and Thee Department Police Department went on strike. We had all these things occurring. In the 1950s and 1950s, people had been shot and killed by the police. All of these things festered. We had a great deal of people that moved up from the south who wanted to get jobs in detroit because of the big three. They found things were probably as bad here as they were in the south.
