so there s been nearly 80 attacks. in in this two year period. so this is ongoing in many ways, and now we ve had an american killed six or seven others injured and i give the bio administration credit for responding for retaliating, retaliating. it s exactly what they should do. and who are these iranian affiliated groups. right. i mean, there are a variety of shia militia groups, each led by different people, all connected and interlinked in different ways and, in many cases trying to have influence in syria or in the case of iraq , there are there in iraq as well. and syria is important for iran because it s a it provides serie a good deal of weapons. it is also a transit point. for us for iran to provide weapons to lebanese has blah, and so again, a series of syria is a very important transit country for the united states, and i m sorry for iran, and it s, uh, it s a place by which the united states can keep a close eye on what iran is also doing in the
what exactly are we watching? nice to be joined by someone who has been in this world for a long time. co-founder of pay pal. he joins us. thank you very much for coming on. i m just gonna stand back and let you explain what you think is causing this. well, tucker, i think what s going on here, there s a bunch of issues that were particular to credit suisse. they had a series of scandals and compliance issues and executive changes over the past few years. there is a common pattern. these banks are under tremendous stress. if there s weaknesses they are getting flushed out. deposits are leaving quickly. all these banks are sort of interlinked. this is where you get systemic risk. what is causing this stress? i would say the reason for the stress is that we ve had this rate tightening cycle for the last year.
and a mix of everything else. but in a lot of ways it s a microcosm of the commonwealth. it is urban, rural, and suburban. and everything from agriculture to state employees, million dollar mansions and housing projects, and i think that voters are looking for someone who is going to speak to them and not leave any community behind, and that s what i ve done for the past 18 years in the legislature and that s what i ve done in this campaign. yeah, i think in many ways they are interlinked, demographically this changing state and, you know, another party very much isolationist, nativists wants to bring us back to a time before all that demographic change. speaking of that on the other side of the aisle you defeated leon benjamin, your opponent, who s an election denier by almost 50 points. the congressman who preceded you
outside the united states, up from one in 28 in 1990. it is also significantly less white. what are the faces that you think of when you think of your constituents in virginia? it s very diverse. my district is about 47% white, 44% black, and a mix of everything else, but in a lot of ways it s a microcosm of the commonwealth. it is urban, rural, and suburban. and everything from agriculture to state employees, million dollar mansions and housing projects. and i think that voters are looking for someone who is going to speak to them and not leave any community behind. that s what i have done for the past 18 years in the legislature. and that s what i did in this campaign. yeah. i think, in many ways, they are interlinked, right?
i think in many ways they are interlinked, right? miss demographic, this changing state and, you know, another priority that is very much isolationist, nativist, wants to bring us back to before that demographic change. speaking of the other side of the aisle, you defeated benjamin, an election denier, by almost 50 points. now the congressman who proceeded you in the seat defeated him in 2022 before his untimely death by 30 points, and benjamin would not concede, even when he lost by 30 points. i think you have done a solid favor and establish the threshold and which you need to beat an election denier to actually have him concede. is 50% what everybody needs to run up in order to get election deniers to admit the truth? well, i would like to think that election deniers wouldn t just see reality, but if we have to run it up to 50%, then that s just what we ll do.
