Heathrow to launch rapid COVID-19 testing pilot for airport workers

Heathrow is working with NHS Test & Trace on a Government-led colleague testing pilot. The pilot will use rapid lateral flow tests to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the airport. This pilot is designed to support measures already in place to keep the airport COVID-secure, help stop the spread of the new more contagious strain of the virus and provide valuable insight into how rapid testing can be more widely deployed across Britain to keep vital services such as critical national infrastructure running.
One in three people with coronavirus do not display symptoms, meaning they are at risk of unknowingly spreading the virus to others – particularly when they are unable to work from home. This pilot sets out to understand how routine testing might be used to help identify asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in the airport’s workforce. The lateral flow tests THERE are now more places for people without symptoms to get a free, rapid Covid-19 test in Worcestershire. Lateral flow testing, in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, will be available to residents at Pershore Leisure Centre and Redditch Town Hall, to help drive down transmission rates. It is believed around one in three people with Covid-19 will have no symptoms. Testing will be available for people with no symptoms aged 18 and over, at Pershore Leisure Centre from Saturday, January 30 and at Redditch Town Hall from Tuesday, February 2. New UK Government Covid testing site opens in Cumbernauld 28 January
The UK Government has today, Thursday 28 January, opened a new drive-through coronavirus testing centre at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld (G68 9NE).
The test centre is part of the largest network of diagnostic testing facilities created in British history. In Scotland, this comprises of seven drive through sites, 27 walk-through sites, 21 mobile units, plus the Glasgow Lighthouse Lab which is working round the clock to process samples.
In Scotland, the UK Government is providing all Covid testing and test processing outside of the NHS. Around two thirds of all daily tests are provided by the UK Government, in support of Scotland’s health services.
