Workers of outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on Sunday stormed a police station near the party’s headquarters in Lahore and abducted half a dozen policemen including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), in a fresh wave of violence sparked after arrest of the party chief last week.
“Today in the early morning, miscreants attacked Nawankot Police Station where Rangers and police officers were trapped inside the police station and [the] DSP Nawankot [Mohammad Umer Farooq was] kidnapped and taken [to] the [TLP] markaz, said a brief statement issued by the provincial police.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid announced on Monday that after a successful round of negotiation with Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), the proscribed outfit had released 11 policemen taken hostage from Lahore a day earlier.
“First round of negotiations have been successful which have led to TLP releasing the policemen it had held hostage. The second round of negotiations will begin after sehri,” the federal minister said in an early morning video message.

Hours after Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers tortured and abducted a deputy superintendent of police in Lahore, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that the government believed in negotiations but it cannot be blackmailed.
Fawad, in a statement, said that the operation was conducted in Lahore after police and Rangers personnel were abducted at gunpoint.
The minister said the state will never be blackmailed by banned armed groups,
Radio Pakistan reported.
