we only finished paying off our student loans about eight years ago. that wasn t that long ago. the president took his message to a taping of late night with jimmy fallon. president obama s outreach to a youthful audience, well, it is working. a new harvard university poll of 18 to 29-year-olds shows president obama with a 17-point lead over mitt romney. it s a six-point gain since the end of 2011. unlike romney, president obama has been an honest broker with the younger generation. and so have the democrats, if you look at it. in 2007, the new democratic congress passed the college cost reduction and access act. the bill lowered subsidized interest rate loans. the democrats worked on behalf of low-income students and got president bush to sign a very helpful piece of legislation. now republicans, what do they want to do? they want to undo all of that. congressman paul rooip of the
responsible, and he doesn t define what that is. and that is the question that the media ought to ask the president. who qualifies for this? who, under your definition of responsible homeowner, who is that? what are the parameters? we have spent a ton of money ineffectively on a million half programs that were supposed to help four million homeowners that helped less than a million. we spent a considerable amount of money on that and the administration has been ineffective in administering that so what we are doing is doubling down on an ineffective administration of a program he has now, using other people s money to pay for the cost of the financing which is anyone that uses a bank. so, this is a way to do this without raising anybody s taxes, and using the faith and credit of the u.s. government as a basis for borrowing money on a 30 year basis to, in fact, change the loans to lower interest rate loans.
