The Lok Sabha has passed a bill empowering inter-services organizations to exercise administrative or disciplinary control over army, navy, and air force personnel serving under their command. Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, has called it an essential move towards military reforms and promoting jointness among these entities.
The bill empowers the government to form an Inter-Services Organisation applicable for all personnel of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and other forces notified by the Centre. The bill grants the Commander-in-Chief, Officer-in-Command the disciplinary and administrative powers, irrespective of the personnel's parent service
A key bill, which Defence Minister Rajnath Singh termed an important step in the direction of military reforms, passed the Lok Sabha on Friday. The Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023, empowers commanders of inter-services organisations to exercise control over personnel, irrespective of their service branch.
The Tri-Services bill will grant Inter-services Organisations the power to exercise disciplinary and administrative action irrespective of their original Service affiliation.
