Inmates at the Genesee County Jail enrolled in the I.G.N.I.T.E. Financial Literacy program were treated to a star-studded graduation on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
(Fargo, ND) A former convict who spent 29 years in prison for murder was among those who gathered in Fargo Wednesday to help jumpstart the new R.E.I.G.N.I.T.E. initiative at the Cass County Jail. "We all are going to make mistakes. I made probably the worst mistake you could ever make in the world. Everyday I regret it. Everyday I have to live with a choice that I made,"
The new program is called (R) I.G.N.I.T.E. It s goal is to reduce recidivism by educating inmates and giving them the certifications and support they need to be productive citizens.
The program helps give inmates a chance to learn valuable life skills and receive an education so they re better prepared to find a job once they re released.
