When Cisco Systems Inc. announced Cisco Plus, its as-a-service model for compute, networking and storage hardware, in late March, it was telling which of the new features would be introduced first this year. It was Cisco Plus Hybrid Cloud, scheduled for release in mid-2021.
That Cisco would lead with its hybrid cloud offering, which combines data center compute with Unified Computing System networking over Nexus, plus storage and software to integrate edge, on-premises and public cloud, should come as no surprise. Hybrid has come to dominate the IT universe, and it is what customers want in managing critical enterprise workloads.

With software-defined wide area networks (SD-WANs) gaining traction as companies across the work address the new normal of business with hybrid working environments, IT and communications services provider Verizon Business has expanded its longstanding strategic partnership with Cisco with the addition of three new SD-WAN managed services offerings.
The expansion is designed to provide enterprises with what Verizon says will be an extensive global footprint, access to new systems and capabilities, as well as a management and policy administration model to support companies’ desired business outcomes.

Verizon Business is expanding its portfolio of managed SD-WAN offerings with the addition of three new Cisco SD-WAN products. Verizon and Cisco Systems have been working together since last year to help businesses build out agile networking infrastructure in light of new IT demands due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The addition of Cisco SD-WAN solutions to Verizon’s portfolio will combine Cisco’s expertise in the SD-WAN space with Verizon’s global footprint and support, the companies said on Thursday.
Cisco is growing its Catalyst 8000 Edge and cellular gateway product line to grant more flexibility to businesses with remote users.
The extended product line includes a new 5G Cellular gateway, a virtual CPE Edge device that can host Cisco or third-party virtual network functions, and two new Catalyst 8500 and 8200 branch products, the tech giant revealed Tuesday.
Cisco in October first unveiled the brand-new Catalyst 8000 product line, including the Catalyst 8500 Series Edge Platform, the Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platform, Catalyst 8000V Edge Software, and the Catalyst Cellular Gateway series.
The Catalyst Cellular Gateway series, a competitor to Cradlepoint, was introduced first in October as a series of small devices that give customers a simple way to connect to 4G LTE without changing their existing infrastructure. The Catalyst Cellular Gateways can be used as a cellular a back-up option or a primary SD-WAN link for locations without wired connectivity. The new Catalyst Cel
