Once the vast majority of the population is protected against Covid-19, Singapore should be able to fully open its borders, and life can start returning to normal.
But that can happen only if everyone who is eligible gets vaccinated.
The question is: Will all such people be willing to get inoculated?
If significant numbers don t, it can jeopardise the entire programme.
This is because eligible people who do not get vaccinated not only put themselves at risk - which we can argue is their choice - but will also endanger children and those who, for medical reasons, are not suitable for the vaccine.
SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Health (MOH) has welcomed the latest measures by private insurers to adjust the terms for those on existing Integrated Shield Plans (IP) with riders that cover hospital bills in full.
MOH said on Thursday (Feb 11) that these changes, together with other efforts by the Government such as the publication of fee benchmarks, will further encourage prudent use of healthcare services, and keep healthcare costs sustainable for all Singaporeans . IP policyholders can continue to tap on their MediSave to pay for their co-payment amounts under all riders, subject to the MediSave withdrawal limits, the ministry told The Straits Times.
1. MediSave limits for hospitalisation & surgery
Sorry, but you cannot use your MediSave to pay for that GP visit you made in order to get an MC. If you get hospitalised or have to undergo day surgery, however, you will be able to use MediSave to pay.
Two types of MediSave limits apply: (a) daily hospital limits (which only apply to hospital charges excluding surgery) and (b) surgical limits (only apply to surgery). So if you get hospitalised and undergo surgery, you can claim up to two different limits.

A lot has changed in the past year, but the upcoming changes to the government’s health insurance scheme, MediShield Life, might have gotten lost in the noise. While the system has undergone little tweaks every now and then, in early 2021 there will be a major review of the MediShield Life scheme which also means significant premium hikes! Since.
