IBP: Cops letter asking court for names of lawyers representing suspected Reds improper

Published March 13, 2021 9:24am The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) on Saturday said the letter of the Calbayog Police asking a trial court to furnish them with the names of  lawyers representing “communist terrorist group personalities” is improper, deplorable, and alarming. We are acting on the March 12, 2021 letter to the Clerk of Court of the Regional Trial Court, Calbayog City that went viral, and we are assured by top PNP Officials that there is no directive to PLt Fernando G. Calabria, Jr., Chief Intel/SDEU of the Calbayog City Police Station or to any police unit to secure from the courts the names of lawyers representing suspected communist terrorist groups, the IBP said in a statement.

IBP exec: Killings in justice sector to worsen criminality in PHL

Published January 28, 2021 2:33pm The killings among workers in the judicial system of the Philippines should stop as this could eventually give criminals a stronger foothold in society, Integrated Bar of the Philippines president Domingo Cayosa said Thursday. During a hearing on the spate of killings in the country, including lawyers, Cayosa said Congress should really pass the bill creating the Philippine Marshall Service for protection of workers in the justice sector. He said it shall not only provide security for judges but also fiscals, and lawyers from the Public Attorney s Office, among others.
