is significantly less power than they used to be. we have seen laws changed on a state level, we saw some pro-gun safety. yesterday, we saw wayne la-pierre tighten the leash. yes, i would totally agree with that. this president is always erratic. it seems like he wakes up to the fact that americans and american people very much want action on this issue. what he should be doing is rolling out his plans for how he s helping to deal with this, the same way we saw the march for our live students marching. and he rolls back and makes these sort of vague ridiculous statements. go ahead.
concerned pass sweeping gun safety measures is to get a democrat back in the white house. and there are a lot of people, charlie, who agree with that, who are determined to do it. we have seen no letting up from the parkland students who started the whole movement with all the protests and everything else and a couple of them were they were unveiling a comprehensive gun reform policy today. let me play for you what two of the founders had to say. the important thing to remember about this plan is it is an appropriate and bold response to the massive amount of gun deaths that we have on every single year in the united states right now. and it s not a plan that s looking to get democrats or republicans elected. it s looking to get americans that are just leaders elected that care about people dies across the country on a daily basis. we have all seen what has happened in the past.
which far exceeds anything any member of congress has ever said. he also has a daughter who s jewish you can be an anti-semimite anyway. those two things are not inconsistent and he s proven it, hasn t he? one of the arguments that we heard from him today, and it was also repeated by some conservative commentators was that he is the best president in the history of the world, the most supportive of the jewish people and of israel. president trump has replaced the jewish people with israel. he has replaced jewish americans with the state of israel. when we say to him, what you just said was anti-semitic, he says nobody has done for israel than me. that in itself is anti-semitic. he has made that connection many times. i do have to say that the
president using a dual loyalty trope. jews throughout our history have been accused of being more loyal to each other and more loyal to israel than to the nation they live. this has led to our marginalization, our torture, our murder and to our genocide. and so to hear these words coming out of the president s mouth, i wish i could tell you, i wish i could describe how horrifying that is to my community. the republican jewish coalition, jennifer, they defended the president saying that their interpretation of what he said was that he was talking about jewish americans being disloyal to themselves by voting democratic. so the washington post asked the group s executive editor matt brooks why it was okay for the president to use loyalty language that has been deemed anti-semitic. he said there s a big difference and that, quote, trump was talking about being true to
