It is the time of year when parents of school-aged children inquire about ways to fill their children's summer days with new experiences and adventure. Thanks to the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint (MCS), there are several opportunities for kids of all ages to connect with others and explore the world of music and theater.
As the school year begins, so do the afterschool classes and performing groups hosted by the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint. Music Matters! is an all-encompassing program that meets throughout the year and enriches the lives of many of the community's youth, enveloping them in the benefits and collaborative aspects of music and theater.
The Music Conservatory has been a gift to the Sandpoint community since it first opened in September 2009. Over the last 14 years, nearly 5,000 students have passed through its doors and have enhanced not only their musical and creative skills but also formed lifelong friendships.
With a mission to instruct and inspire excellence in the performing arts, including music, theater, and all expressive art forms, founder and Executive Director Karin Wedemeyer says the Conservatory endeavors to create a welcoming environment and promote collaboration rather than competition.
