We look at challenges facing Public Schools in a discussion on this mornings washington journal. Host guest at our desk is the director of the National School Boards Association. As we dive into the topic of local School Boards and todays education debates, first, tell us about your group and its mission. Enough money, so they didnt have it. And yet theyve got this huge football field, you know . So i guess my question is how do we encourage, not only encourage the students to get interested in lieu of an active Human Exploration Program beyond low earth orbit, how do we bring that apollolike interest in s. T. E. M. That apollo generated kind of on autopilot, basically . You know, it just happened because everybody was interested in the program. Young students wanted to get involved in engineering and science and math. We dont have that, you know, at this time, at least not that im aware of. So how do we, how do we get them involved or interested in pursuing those things with a visibility that they see with the sports on tv and some of the other aspects of our society that arent, you know, that are more visible than the Space Program . So ill, ill start to answer that. I think theres two halves to the equation. I think one of the keys in getting more kids interested in the s. T. E. M. F

Completion happens before the student never enrolls in college. Two issues from the Texas College success or lack of success. The first is growing latino demography. There is also the case12 Public Schools where latinos comprise the majority of all Public School students. Problems not that there is a growing latino demography, the problem is the growth in High School Graduates has not translated to enrollment in colleges and universities. With black students, its slightly different but no less important. We have seen an increase in enrollment for the black population. It is worth raising that is an roman is not translated into completion. Far from it, its a clear example of how success on one side of the pipeline does not translate to the other side.
