IIHS Says New Subaru Model s Rear Automatic E-Braking Saves You Time And Money

How safe are the 2021 Subaru Forester, Outback, and Ascent SUVs? The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) says rear automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems on the automaker’s models save owners money and time because they help prevent rear accidents. An updated analysis from the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) shows Subaru and GM models equipped with rear AEB had 28 percent fewer property damage liability claims and 10 percent fewer collision claims across the two manufacturers. The advanced safety technology saves drivers more money than any other AEB feature, according to the new study. The 2021 Subaru Forester, Outback, Ascent, and Legacy models all come standard with front and rear AEB. The vehicles use cameras and radar to detect when the car is getting too close to an obstacle and automatically applies the brakes to avoid or mitigate collisions.
