DR NORMAN SWAN, REPORTER: The vaccine rollout has finally started here and across the globe it s gathering speed.
Over the past few weeks the number of COVID-19 cases has been falling dramatically in many countries. This was predicted by modellers at the Institute of Health Metrics Evaluation in Seattle back in November.
But epidemiologist Chris Murray believes this fall in cases has little or nothing to do with vaccines.
PROF. CHRIS MURRAY, EPIDEMIOLOGIST: COVID is very seasonal and the peak of seasonality, we expected was some time mid-January to early February and so the decline we are seeing now is probably mostly driven by seasonality.
