Hundreds of Orthodox Jews attended a funeral in Jerusalem for one of the victims of the Meron tragedy, where 45 people were crushed to death and 150 more were injured, at celebrations for the Jewish holiday of Lag B Omer, in Meron,. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Friday thanking the many officials and individuals around the world who sent their condolences and commiserations following the severe disaster that took place at the Lag BâOmer festivities on Mount Meron.

Families of victims of the overnight disaster at Meron arrive at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv. Social workers able to communicate with relatives, some of whom speak only Yiddish, are on hand to offer assistance. Bodies of those killed in the stampede were transported to the center for identification, as part of the investigation into the tragedy.
Tel Aviv police blocked roads outside the center and a special area was prepared for the worried family members.
