The prosecution in the trial of the murder of former University of Ghana law lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, has finally submitted a comprehensive medical report on the second suspect, Opambour Agya Badu Nkansah.
This comes weeks after the prosecution failed to produce the suspect before the court with the recent one being the failure of the prosecution to meet a 48-hour deadline given by the court to furnish it with the medical report.
Nkansah, who is facing the court on charges of conspiracy and murder has been absent for eight consecutive times since October 14, 2020 after the prosecution had told the court that Nkansah was indisposed and was receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.
A Magistrate has admonished Police investigators and prosecutors to be more professional when handling suspects.
Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye, the Kaneshie District Court Magistrate, noted that if the Police had acted appropriately, they would have saved the taxpayers’ money spent on conducting skin grafting surgery of Opambour Agya Badu Nkansah, the second murder suspect in Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh’s case.
The Magistrate noted that the state was going to bear the cost of Nkansah’s surgery.
The Magistrate gave the caution after the Ghana Police Service produced in court a comprehensive medical report of the second suspect in the murder of Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh.
The Kaneshie District Court on Monday directed that the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department to appear before it on December 29, if the second suspect in the murder of Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, was not brought to court.
According to the court if the medical report of Opambour Agya Badu Nkansah, the second suspect was not made available to it by the next adjourned date then the CID Boss must appear before it to answer.
The court, presided over by Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye subjected the case investigator to series of questioning after the suspect was not brought to the court on Monday.
