Three sand smugglers were arrested for attempting to murder a police sub-inspector near Anichampalayam in Namakkal district. The accused were intercepted while driving a sand-laden truck and attempted to ram the vehicle on the police sub-inspector. The police gave chase and caught the truck, leading to the arrest of the three smugglers.
