so not surprising. apparently this key battalion, jack, that surrendered, the leader, his own brother had been executed by moammar gadhafi just a few years ago. it doesn t make any sense if you re thinking logically that the brother of somebody moammar gadhafi had executed would be in charge of such a critical unit. yeah, it doesn t make any sense he would be put in charge. he maybe swore an oath on the lives of his own children and that sort of stuff. anything is possible. and anything has been possible in libya in the past 40 years. what surprises me is the speed with which this standoff that s been going on for about six months or so actually started to fall in favor of the rebels. rebels were poorly armed, poorly trained, particularly at the lowest levels. but they apparently gained some steam as some of the gadhafi s
and managed to descend on tripoli. the story that you were talking about that said that some people actually inside tripoli were armed, i can believe that, too. but, boy, it it would take some really tough guys to get inside there and arm civilians under the noses of gadhafi s forces. that would mean that gadhafi s forces had already been pushed with their backs against the wall, if that actually occurred. and we ve been talking about a story that will be ongoing, but the fact that already many of these large stocks of munitions have been raided, antiaircraft missiles, all sorts of different munitions. and we are being told now that the united states has been meeting with some of libya s neighbors to talk about how they can stem the flow of missiles. how difficult a job is that going to be, jack?
