On Wednesday, former Vice-President Mike Pence, 61, had a pacemaker implanted after doctors determined his heart rate was too slow.
Pence s office released a statement addressing the development: Over the past two weeks, former Vice President Pence experienced symptoms associated with a slow heart rate and, upon consultation with his doctors, underwent a procedure yesterday at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia, to implant a pacemaker. The routine surgery was successful, and he is expected to fully recover and return to normal activity in the coming days.

Pence followed up the update on his health with a tweet of support for the newly formed America First Policy Institute and a tweet of condolence for the family of former Democratic Vice President Walter Mondale, who he called a truly good man.

Former Vice President Mike Pence hospitalized for heart procedure

Pence underwent the procedure at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia, according to a statement.
He is expected to fully recover and return to normal activity soon, according to the statement.
“I am grateful for the swift professionalism and care of the outstanding doctors, nurses and staff at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute. My family has been truly blessed by the work of these dedicated health care professionals,” Pence said in the statement.
In 2016, Pence, then the governor of Indiana, disclosed his medical history after being nominated to be Donald Trump’s vice president. Pence said he had an asymptomatic left bundle branch block.
