Government works to restore water in Umkhanyakude

Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu, has called on community members in KwaHlabisa, in Umkhanyakude District Municipality, to work together with local government and water entities when water infrastructure projects are rolled out.

Minister Mchunu assures Big Five Hlabisa residents that government is working in earnest to restore water in the municipality

Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu has affirmed to the communities of Big Five Hlabisa municipality in uMkhanyakude District that work is progressing in earnest to ensure that water supply is restored to the residents of the municipality through the Section 63 intervention in the KwaZulu-Natal northern District. Minister Mchunu made this undertaking during the community engagements that took place yesterday, 11 May 2023 at Mkhaliphi Stadium in eNhlwathi Village and Iholo la Makhosi in Hlabisa, as part of the two-day visit to two of the four municipalities in the district, the Big Five Hlabisa and Mtubatuba local municipalities, to assess progress of the refurbishment and upgrading of water schemes in order to restore, augment and expand water supply to communities that have been experiencing water challenges in the district.

RADIO HOST STABBED TO DEATH! By ZAMA NTEYI Kwazi “Captain” Magubane . FORMER radio presenter, Kwazi “Captain” Magubane was stabbed and killed in a car hijacking on Monday, 5 April. Kwazi’s death was announced by his former employer, the community radio station, Imbokodo FM on their Facebook page. The 36-year-old leaves behind a five-month-old kid and his fiancée, Thabile Zulu. Thabile, who was too distraught to talk, confirmed Kwazi’s death before she passed the phone to his best friend, Nkosi Gumede. Nkosi told Daily Sun Kwazi was travelling with his two friends from KwaMashu to Sydenham. “From what we understand, they were followed by an unknown vehicle from KwaMashu. When they got to Sydenham, his friends got out of the vehicle to relieve themselves.
