Community groups have pushed forward a fundraising effort for a monument that tells the story of Chinese immigrants in Humboldt County, including the violent expulsion from Eureka in 1885.
Exhibit organizer Jenny Downs, a poet and recent MFA graduate, said, “This art is an immersion into a difficult topic. It offers an opportunity to develop compassionate understanding. I think it is often misunderstood and the word itself is frequently misused."
