pandemic. let s bring in vanessa davis, registered nurse and covid nurse supervisor at the university of alabama at birmingham injection clinic. thank you so much for being with us. what are you seeing in terms of a change in numbers of people coming in for vaccinations? thank you, john, for having me. yes, we are seeing over the last couple of weeks about an 80% increase in vaccination rates. we re seeing a lot more families coming in instead of the older population that we saw initially being vaccinated. so that s kind of encouraging. parents are getting a little more concerned with their students going back to school soon, and they are going back to the work force whereas they have been in the past working from home over the last year or so. what are you hearing from people in addition to that they might be concerned now about their children. children is the number one thing. with school starting back in two
point that there s still relative courage required for an american lawmaker to step out and say let s decriminalize. it is now down to 18-1 under president obama. 18-1 is still enormous, right, it s not 101, but it s still enormous. you do have that political problem reemerging. we have to look at the actual factual results of treatment. i was just moderating a panel where the former mayor of vancouver was who also happen to be coroner before he was mayor. he started to see the number of people who died and he said, we have to do something about this. in vancouver, they have the only legal injection clinic. i think it s in north america. where people can shoot up with heroin legally. they re bringing people there.
