do republicans need to lead or does the president need to lead? it is a question whether you think these reforms are necessary. a lot of liberals don t think that. a lot of liberals don t think that. the reason he didn t talk about it in the state of the union, was because he got pressure from liberals saying don t you daresay anything about raising the retirement or cutting benefits. i don t think everybody is on the same page in terms of what needs to happen there. i think republicans learned 15 years ago in the gingrich years if you try to govern from congress, remember he had two houses, house and senate at the time, republicans had two houses, you will be crushed by the president. the idea that republicans control of a single house are going to propose radical reforms and entitlements is ininsane. it has to start with the president it doesn t nothing will happen until the republicans get elected have
