Announcing a new lawsuit over the states restricted voting law weeks after promising action to protect Voting Rights nationwide. The complaint alleges that the state enacted those restrictions with the purpose of denying or bridging the right to vote on account of race or color. you know, the government, the u.s. government and other governments actually have signaled this for a while already. and i know that the financial infrastructure, the financial firms here in the united states and around the globe are are anticipating and are ready for this . you know, they they have their alerts up there. they re doing the exercises they need to do to be ready. this is a known threat. you know, what i wonder too, anne-marie, is you know, what s the difference? because a lot of cyber experts have brought the point up. what is the difference if vladimir putin goes into a nato country and bombs a pipeline or bombs a major infrastructure piece or whether he clicks a button and knocks out the pipeline or knocks out the major piece of infrastructure, is there a difference in twenty first century twenty second century warfare? i think there s a difference and attribution the ability to attribute that type of attack as i mentioned before, and a
time, i believe manchin would have wound up having to vote for a much larger bill now for the purpose of getting the infrastructure piece. manchin always said he thought the infrastructure, the hard infrastructure part of all this spending that biden wanted was good for the country. he was less certain the rest of it was good for the country. so yes, he did vote for that, but by allowing that bill to pass and republicans helping the white house do this, they gave joe manchin all the reasons he needed to kill this part of it, because he d already been able to vote for something he thinks he can sell back home in west virginia. so now what? we hear the strategy being floated that this massive bill which started at 6 trillion now down to 1.75, should be broken up. piecemeal into smaller pieces and that way you can get more moderates or maybe just manchin, and perhaps maybe even republicans on board. your thoughts? well, the issue with that, of course, is that all this stuff has to go
to put the second piece of this together. on the infrastructure piece the president asked me to help him with, one of the things that s really important is that we now execute. and that s the much harder part of the job. and so when you think about this, in terms of rebuilding the country, there has to be horizontal and vertical inteication. the federal government, the mayors, the parish presidents, the tribal leaders all have to be on the same page. one team, one fight, making sure the money gets to where it s supposed to go. when the president was the vice president and oversaw this for president obama, he was really interested in making sure the money got where it was supposed to go and make sure there s transparency and accountability. that we move fast but also move smart and as we build, we build back better. what does the better mean? the better means we focus on climate, on equity, on racial equity as well and make sure we build back with american-made products. and that brings
i think they re going to help a lot. you know, in different communities, they have different priorities, within our state. but just the infrastructure piece. it is what comes up in so much of our state. that you have towns that were doing better 40 years ago than today. they need new investment. you know? that s in all different forms. road and bridges but also internet. water systems. power plants. it s putting local people to work on those local projects. because pennsylvanians are proud where they live and want to stay there generation after generation, but you need jobs for that. trump talk and all of this, promised all of it delivered none of it. we re delivering it and we delivered it, by the way, with votes from both parties. two things people want. bringing jobs to our state and also working together across the aisle, but it took democrats getting into power in governments to make it happen and convince the other the to work with us even though a small number, still there. i
