No wonder President Duterte thinks Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar is “amazing”.
Villar, the Duterte administration’s chief builder, said during the pre-SONA (State of the Nation Address) forum Monday, April 26 that a total of 26,494 kilometer of roads in the country have either been constructed and improved in the last five years. media[3033]
Villar said that the figure represents roads all over the country that were constructed, maintained, widened, upgraded, and rehabilitated since 2016.
From 2016 to 2019, a total of 23,657 kilometers of roads were built and improved by the DPWH. In the year 2020 amid a raging pandemic, an estimated,000 kilometers of roads were constructed and improved, the agency said.
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has ordered 15 construction sites to close as of yesterday after failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Senior Minister (Infrastructure Cluster) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, in a statement today, said since the MCO was implemented on Jan 13, CIDB has inspected 1,022 construction sites, of which 1,007 were found to adhere to the SOP.
All 15 construction sites have been issued with notices for non-compliance in terms of workers’ accommodation, physical distancing, and the wearing of face mask.
