In November 2023, the regulator increased the risk weights for loans to NBFCs by 25 basis points. As a result, bank borrowing has turned more expensive for these entities.

Pramod Amthe, Head Of Institutional Equity Research at InCred Capital expects a muted allocation for the infra sector in the Budget, but announcements for the next five years could provide a roadmap for the sector.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay says: “Some amount of caution is creeping in. Remember, we are heading to a result season. Day after tomorrow onwards, the IT big companies start announcing the results and the market will take cues from the results and move on. I think the next main trigger apart from the results will be the budget on 1st February.”

The monetisation of assets unlocks their value, eliminates their holding cost and enables scarce public funds to be deployed into new projects, thus fast-tracking new infrastructure creation," the report recommended.
