but again, at the time, it was unclear if the fbi had actually found what they were looking for. the initial report was a pretty massive deal, hence the response from turner there. but then things quiet down for a little while. and again, all the washington post had previously reported was, they were looking for nuclear docks. trump, of course, did what he does best. he s the information vacuum to try and shift the discussion. in this case, appearing to outright lie. back on august 12th, the ex president took to the maga twitter knock off to declare, quote, nuclear weapons if she was a hoax. incidentally, that is the same post where he suggested that the fbi planted documents in mar-a-lago, unexcused which he seems to have dropped in recent weeks. now at least according to the washington post, we know it was not a hoax. and even with a month to repair, republicans are still struggling to respond to these latest allegations. do you think it is appropriate, the way that the former pres
highly, highly classified. there are things that are not extremely classified but are, nonetheless, classified. the other aspect, with respect to access, is that we do not know what those documents are. so the washington post had previously reported last month that investigators were looking for information related to nuclear programs in the certain mar-a-lago. that is what congressman turner was responding to there. but again, at the time, it was unclear if the fbi had actually found what they were looking for. the initial report was a pretty massive deal, hence the response from turner there. but then things quiet down for a little while. and again, all the washington post had previously reported was, they were looking for nuclear docs. trump, of course, did what he does best. he s the information vacuum to try and shift the discussion, in this case appearing to outright lie. back on august 12th, the ex-president took to the maga twitter knock off to declare, quote, nuclear weapons
tell us. the worst thing they could do is not say anything, leave the south there and any information vacuum, we will have speculation, leaks and that is not a good thing. it seems like somebody should have had solid evidence of terrible dealings by the former president if they were going to take the unprecedented step of raiding his home and seizing documents. that s never been done before and it doesn t seem from what were hearing so far, we don t know what s in the documents. it seems like maybe the fbi did not know either. you re absolutely right it s one thing to get probable cause to recover documents. it s another thing to bring a criminal prosecution beyond a reasonable doubt especially against the former president which is why i m convinced about document recovery the classified angle was needed in order to invoke the presidential records act which is not a criminal
