A decrease in the supply of available vessels in the panamax segment has helped stabilize waterborne freight rates for the transportation of products from Ukrainian ports, Spike Brokers reports.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of May 16, Ukraine planted 5.105 mln ha of spring grains and pulses, or 91.1% of the planned area (5.601 mln ha).
According to the State Customs Service, as of May 17, Ukraine exported 44.214 mln tonnes of grains and pulses since the beginning of 2023/24 MY, of which 2.856 mln tonnes were shipped in April, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported.
Exports of Ukrainian oilseed products through Odesa ports currently account for about 75-80% of total shipments, while before the full-scale invasion this figure was about 90%, estimated Stepan Kapshuk, CEO of the Ukroliyaprom Association.
According to a conservative forecast, the harvest of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine in 2024 is expected to reach 73 mln tonnes. This was announced during a meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Latvian Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation by Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka, Ukrinform reports.
