ESPN has announced its next
30 for 30 documentary and if you grew up in the late-80s or early- 90s, the subject might be very intriguing to you.
American Gladiators will be profiled next in ESPN’s docuseries. For those unfamiliar with the show, “Contenders” would compete against “Gladiators” in events such as jousts on elevated platforms, tug of war on a tilting surface, and trying to scale a rock-climbing wall while being pulled down.
Adding some entertainment value, the Gladiators who were typically bodybuilders or former football players had names like “Laser,” “Malibu,” “Blaze,” “Nitro,” and “Cyclone” which created sort of a professional wrestling feel to the personalities and competition. Many of the Gladiators are expected to be part of the documentary, along with show creator Johnny Ferraro.
Annual Civic Club pancake breakfasts return with a ‘Covid edition’ flip: Valley Views Joan Rusek, cleveland.com
CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio – Pancake breakfast fundraisers are so ingrained as a long-standing tradition in the Chagrin Valley that it seemed as if the dish ran away with the spoon last year when Covid-19 concerns abruptly cancelled the third breakfast and all remaining fundraisers for the Civic Club including the summer ox roast and fall Taste in Bainbridge event. The 69-year breakfast tradition returns this year for two dates: 8 a.m. to noon Sundays, March 7 and 14 at Kenston High School in Bainbridge Township. There will, however, be a few changes due to the pandemic.
