In a tweet sent around 1:30 p.m., it was announced that Tony Leo will be the team s new Assistant Athletic Trainer for the 2021 season. Leo spent the 2020 season as the Infection Control Prevention Coordinator for the Oakland Athletics. Prior to that, he spent 23 seasons working for the Minnesota Twins, two of which were spent as their Head Athletic Trainer. General Manager Ben Cherington also made several additions to the Pirates front office on Thursday, including Rafael Fritas as the Major League Head Athletic Trainer, Terence Brannic as the team s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, and other positions among the operations staff.
