The conflict spilled out into the hallway after the debate, and resulted in lawmakers having to physically separate Reps. Sean Eberhart, R-Shelbyville, and Vanessa Summers, D-Indianapolis. Eberhart said Summers called him a racist and verbally attacked him while Summers said Eberhart tried to physically attack her.
House Minority Leader Phil GiaQuinta called on House Speaker Todd Huston to more firmly reprimand his caucus if they start heckling Democrats. He said it s not the first time his members have been taunted when speaking.
