Local restaurant and bar owners hit hardest by COVID-19 restrictions can apply for state-funded financial aid as early as Thursday afternoon.
The Beaver County Corporation for Economic Development plans to administer more than $1.8 million in COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program grant funding to eligible county businesses.
Lawmakers in early February allocated $145 million to assist the state’s hospitality industry – bars, restaurants, hotels and motels.
“Business owners and employees have worked hard to protect their customers and their communities during this pandemic,” Gov. Tom Wolf said last month. “But the pandemic has been hard on businesses, and they need and deserve our support.”

The City of Philadelphia will begin accepting applications for a $17.9 million hospitality grant program on March 15, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.
The Covid-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program, or CHIRP, will offer grants valued at between $5,000 and $50,000 to businesses in Pennsylvania s hospitality industry. Eligible businesses must have fewer than 300 employees, and priority will be given to businesses closed by Gov. Tom Wolf’s disaster designation.
