Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum says Columbia County s Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance should be declared invalid.
Oregon s attorney general and a group of Columbia County residents are getting involved in the ongoing legal proceedings over the county s Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance.
Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, through senior assistant attorney general Brian Simmonds Marshall, filed a document in the case, requesting that the ordinance be declared invalid.
Rosenblum wrote that the county ordinance and the two ballot measures it was based on conflict with and are incompatible with the state s criminal laws … the duties of the Columbia County sheriff, the duties of the Columbia County district attorney, and the duties of other offers and departments of Columbia County.

County commissioners unanimously passed the first of two public readings of the ordinance after hearing public testimony on Tuesday, April 1.
According to John DiLorenzo attorney for David Hoover, Thomas Riley and other garbage customers in Clackamas County and partner at Portland-based Davis Wright Tremaine the new ordinance would allow his clients to hold Metro accountable to charge fees only based only on the actual cost of providing waste service.

Michael Baker named Public Servant of the Year
When the public health calamity of the century hit our world, it fell to Jefferson County Public Health Director Michael Baker to steer the community through the crisis.
Jefferson County Commissioner Kelly Simmelink presented Baker with the Public Servant of the Year award at this year s Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce awards banquet. Most Jefferson County residents do not know of your 12-14 plus hour days, six and eight days a week since last March, said Simmelink, staying on top of the unknown challenges and planning for the what ifs .
