Lion Foundation invests more than $640,000 back into Bay of Plenty communities

The Lion Foundation Regional Grants Committee for the Bay of Plenty met in early February and awarded $647,523 to Bay of Plenty organisations.
Included in those grants were:
• Tarawera High School - $14,278 towards their driver education programme.
• Katikati Cricket Club - $75,000 towards replacements groundskeeper gear destroyed by fire.
• Rotorua Intermediate School - $29,435 towards a replacement van.

Should the proposed closure go ahead, the branch will close on February 4, and all employees will be offered roles at nearby locations, the spokesperson said. ‘’We are currently consulting with potentially affected employees and won’t be commenting further at this stage,’’ they said. Westpac has 143 branches throughout the country. Timaru Indoor Bowls Association complex committee convenor Brian Hay said the bank’s possible closure would impact on the club. The complex, located opposite the Northtown Mall, does all its banking at the branch just across the road. If it shuts they will be forced to travel 2.4 kilometres to the Stafford St branch.
