Advertising Council Australia has today launched its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), the first ever RAP for the Australian advertising industry.
Today’s launch follows the RAP’s formal endorsement by Reconciliation Australia, and is being marked with a special webinar for ACA members.
Says Laura Aldington, chair of ACA’s RAP Committee, ACA Board member and CEO of Host Havas: “We are very pleased to be launching Advertising Council Australia’s inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan today. This launch is significant because we believe it is a missed opportunity that an industry built on the power of creativity has not yet embraced the oldest, most creative, artistic, storytelling culture on this planet. It’s an injustice we’re excited to take steps towards addressing.”

A total of 211 aspiring creatives have been accepted into AWARD School 2021, with five Indigenous Scholarships awarded as part of this year’s student intake.
This year’s total acceptances were drawn from 460 applications received nationally, and is an increase over last year when 192 students were accepted.
Says AWARD School joint national heads Mandie van der Merwe and Jack Nunn: “Huge congratulations to everyone about to enter AWARD School 2021 – your responses to the application brief showed great creative thinking. And now the hard work really begins.
“As we go into the third year of our Indigenous Scholarship programme we’re also thrilled to welcome five scholars in 2021 who we know are going to shine.”

AWARD School is back for 2021 and is shaping up to be better than ever. Advertising Council Australia caught up with National AWARD School Co-heads Mandie van der Merwe and Jack Nunn to find out what’s ahead this year, and why all aspiring creatives should apply for Australasia’s best – and most potentially career-defining – course in creative thinking.
ACA: AWARD School recently announced some great new initiatives for 2021 – tell us about some of the things you’re most excited about for AWARD School this year.
Mandie & Jack: It’s going to be an absolutely massive year. We’re really excited that for the first time AWARD School is going to be a truly national program, with shared content, mentoring and lectures (including the addition of practical master-class style lectures each week from some of Australia’s best creative thinkers).
