Metro train operator shot in Boyle Heights; shooter flees [Los Angeles Times]
A Metro train operator was shot twice around 4:10 a.m. after pulling into the Indiana Station along the L Line in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of East Los Angeles, authorities said Friday.
Initially transported to a hospital in what was believed to be critical condition, the operator is now stable and expected to live, said Ramon Montenegro, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Services Bureau.
The shooter has not been found. Montenegro said detectives will review camera footage from the train platform and train car. It’s not yet clear whether the assailant fired from inside the train or outside.

The incident happened just after 4 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department.
The victim was transported to a hospital after being struck twice when the suspect shot at the train, a sheriff s spokesperson said.
The train operator was initially transported to a hospital in critical condition. Authorities said the train operator is in stable condition. We re not completely sure if the driver was targeted or if it was a random type of shooting, we don t know that right now, that s why they re downloading the video to get a better picture of what exactly happened, said Ramon Montenegro, a spokesperson for the LASD Transit Services Bureau.

A Metro train operator was recovering at a hospital after he was shot in Boyle Heights on the morning of Jan. 29.
LOS ANGELES - Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were investigating after a Metro train operator was shot in Boyle Heights on Friday morning.
The shooting happened at the Indiana Station platform Friday just after 4:10 a.m.
The train operator was taken to a local hospital in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries. Later, officials upgraded his condition to stable.

EAST LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Metro train operator was shot today at the Indiana Station in East Los Angeles and hospitalized in stable condition, and the transit agency announced a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the identification, apprehension and conviction of the assailant.
The shooting occurred at 4:11 a.m. on the platform of the station, which handles the Metro L Line (formerly Gold Line) trains.
Investigators said a suspect walked up to the operator s cab window as the train came to a stop and fired twice through the glass. The operator ran through the train and the suspect fired two or three more shots before running off the platform and west onto Gleason Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department.
