Indiana State Police explain the process of implementing the use of body cameras
Indiana state police troopers currently do not wear body cameras while on the job. Governor Eric Holcomb made it his priority for all ISP troopers to have body cameras by the spring of 2021. It is something Superintendent Doug Carter was not always in favor of but reconsidered when talking to younger officers on the front lines.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - Governor Eric Holcomb has made it a priority to outfit Indiana State Police with Body Cameras in 2021. He has also called for a third-party review of all use of force practices. Since the death of George Floyd in May of last year, law enforcement agencies across the country have been looking at their policies and practices.

(PORTER CO.) – On Tuesday, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Indiana State Police Troopers responded to the I-94 East Bound Weigh Station at the request of the Motor Carrier Division.
Inspectors were completing a Level 2 inspection on a commercial motor vehicle when the contents inside the trailer raised their suspicions.
A 2016 Volvo, owned/operated by American Roadies Inc., based out of San Jose, California, was pulling a trailer loaded with 18,000 pounds of minced garlic.
As the inspector looked in the trailer, he saw what appeared to be a black case with the rest of the freight.
Police found several packages of a white substance inside the case. That substance tested positive for cocaine. A total of 50 kilos were found in the trailer. Police say the estimated street value of the cocaine is approximately $1.5 to $2 million.
