INDIANAPOLIS â Indiana State Park properties are hosting special events on May 15 for Kids to Parks Day, a national day of outdoor play designed to connect kids and families with local, state, and national parks, a news release from the Indiana Department of Resources said.
Gov. Eric Holcomb also declared May 15 as Kids to Parks Day in Indiana and signed an official proclamation that acknowledges the important initiative to âencourage kids and empower families to get outdoors and visit Americaâs parksâ.
The day is a chance for children to learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, and natural and cultural history. It also helps foster appreciation for public lands in the next generation.
Several Indiana State Parks Looking for Summer Campground Hosts
Spring is here with summer not too far behind. For many people, that means breaking the camper or tent out of storage and heading to one of the many great state parks we have in Indiana. If you re a regular camper at any of these parks, you re likely familiar with the campground host. These individuals usually have a highly visible spot somewhere on one of the loops along the main road that runs through the campground, or near the entrance to it, depending on the park, with a posted sign that clearly lets everyone know their role. They get to camp for free in exchange for performing certain duties around the campground. If that thought sounds appealing to you, you re just the type of person the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for.
