A worldwide snapshot of the coronavirus pandemic as of May 17, 2020-2021 shows a lot happened in a year.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US) and the World Health Organization, on May 17, 2020, there were 4,619,477 diagnosed cases worldwide, with 311,847 deaths reported.
The United States confirmed 1,467,065 total cases of COVID-19 and 88,709 reported deaths as of May 18, 2020.
In Clay County, Indiana, on those dates, there were 32 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with one death reported as of April 20.
A year later, COVID-19 in the United States, as of May 17, 2021, shows total cases at 32,753,426 and total deaths at 582,769. The World Health Organization provides global data (as of noon May 17, 2021), confirming 162,704,139 cases, including 3,374,052 deaths reported.

The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 913 new COVID-19 cases, the first time since Tuesday that daily cases have been below 1,000.
The seven-day moving average of positive cases in Indiana dropped from 1,043 on Friday to 1,024 on Saturday down from 1,057 a month ago.
The state reported 12 new deaths from COVID-19, raising the cumulative total to 13,003.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased from 917 on Friday to 924 on Saturday up from 792 a month ago. The all-time high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The health department reported the testing of 5,452 new individuals.

The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 913 new COVID-19 cases and an additional 12 deaths. The state reported that 2,135,682 Indiana residents who are 16 and older are now fully vaccinated.

Indiana sees COVID-19 cases climb by 1,191, deaths by 5

The Indiana State Department of Health on Saturday reported 1,191 new COVID-19 cases, the fourth day in a row that the daily case count has exceeded 1,000.
The seven-day moving average of positive cases in Indiana rose from 1,089 on Thursday to 1,099 on Friday up from 985 on April 1.
The state reported five new deaths from COVID-19, raising the cumulative total to 12,926.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dipped from 920 on Thursday to 908 on Friday. Hospitalizations are up 30.3% since April 1. The all-time high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The health department reported the testing of 6,144 new individuals.
The state said more than 1.73 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Sunday. More than 2.28 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.
