Staffing executive Bettina Schaller was re-elected as president of the World Employment Confederation, the organisation representing the staffing industry on the global level. Schaller was voted in during the WEC members’ General Assembly on 14 September.
Despite the turbulence in the IT sector, it remains the preferred area for job seekers in India, according to data from employment specialist firm Indeed. The data also showed an increase in white-collar hiring, with production/manufacturing, sales, and marketing roles being favored options. The survey included data from over 1,000 employers and 2,500 job seekers or employees and indicated a growing demand for skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.
The employment of formal contract workers in India increased by 5.6% in the quarter ended June, according to a report by the Indian Staffing Federation. The total formal flexi workforce employed by ISF members reached 1.5 million as of June. The staffing industry as a whole grew 12.5% from July 2022 to June 2023, with ISF members generating 131,000 net new employment during this period.
