Problem: The world population drinks over 2.25 billion cups of coffee every day. But when the coffee is grinded it produces coffee ground waste. When those coffee grounds are dumped into landfills they create methane, which is a greenhouse gas. Methane is known to be more harmful than carbon dioxide, another greenhouse gas that causes global warming. Methane is the second-most abundant greenhouse gas and has a global warming potential up to 86 times greater than CO2.
Solution: The coffee grounds that land up on landfills can be recycled. Coffee grounds waste can be recycled for making Cups, cans, spoons, plates and so much more which reduces the threat to environment.

GOAL: To Re-design Body shop lotion and cream products that are sustainable and consumer-friendly. More than 120 billion units of packaging waste are produced every year by the global cosmetics industry. Cosmetic packaging is primarily made of single-use plastics that are extremely challenging and troublesome to recycle due to their inflexibility. They are unsustainable in nature. Moreover, multi-layered packaging is used to make products look more premium , leading to excess waste. In addition to that, the existing pump bottles and tubes for body lotions lead to 30% of product wastage because the existing shape of the product does not allow the consumers to use the product completely. This leads to consumers resorting to different sorts of measures like cutting the bottles and tubes.

Packaging Substrate / Materials: Wood and Ceramic The word betsubara (別腹), composed of betsu (separate) and bara (stomach), literally says that your body has a second stomach for sweets. Since sweets are only sold in bulk our solution is to make it more accessible for people to buy sweets by having a single box for each piece of sweet. Betsu Bara is a unique sweet fusing Japanese and Indian aspects of a desert.
CONCEPT: We chose fusion of culture as our concept because having the creativity of the Indian and Japanese cultures merged together would attract a lot of people to the outcome of it. Our sweet will look like the famous Japanese sweets i.e Taiyaki and Namagashi but its flavours will be of Barfi and Besan Ladoo which are Indian sweets. And, the packaging design contains patterns and designs from both the Indian and Japanese style.

Packaging Substrate / Materials: Biode-gradable PET bottle, Recycled Labeling The thing about recycling plastic bottles today is that it consists only of the bottle – To recycle one out of many component pieces of a plastic bottle is not successful recycling. It is estimated that 180,000 tonnes of waste labels are land-filled in the UK each year and labels contribute to a majority of ocean plastic waste. What happened to Reduce of the 3 R s? Relatively little is recycled, because typically there are various materials together, plastics with different chemical compositions, adhesives and inks. Separating them in the recycling process is either labour intensive or not possible, and so far there is no practical solution.
Printing Process: Digital Printing Déjà Bru – The Sustainable Future consists of a premium alternative that can uplift Bru s image and give them some fresher and relevant packaging design. The new line of Bru will offer a design that is travel friendly and can have multiple uses. It ll offer more products and options of coffee while staying relevant and having something that would appeal to the young and the old universally. The name Déjà Bru is derived from the simple emotion of enjoying coffee again-n-again.
STRUCTURE: The new premium variant of Bru consists of a capsule shaped structure consisting of steel mugs one on top of the other sealed with a steel lid with a silicone seal, connected by a small cookie container, cause what is Coffee without Cookies? Each mug has a paper slippie wrapped around it with unique designs depending on the coffee flavour categories.
