Indian Fuel Demand: Total consumption, a proxy for oil demand, totalled 21.09 million metric tons (4.99 million barrels per day) in March, down from 21.22 million tons (5.02 mbpd) last year, preliminary data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry showed on Saturday.
Indian Fuel Demand: Consumption of bitumen, used for making roads, is likely to rise by 3.4%, while naphtha demand is expected to drop by 7.4%. Demand for petcoke, a better-burning alternative to coal, could increase 4.1% to 20.1 million tonnes, while demand for liquefied petroleum gas, used as cooking fuel in the country, is estimated to grow by 2.4% to 30 million tonnes, PPAC data showed.
India s fuel demand rose by 1.9% YoY in July, yet it was still down about 6.6% from the previous month, mainly due to seasonal factors. Sales of gasoline fell 5.3% to 2.99 million tonnes and sales of diesel decreased around 13% to 6.89 million tonnes in July from the previous month.
