In the wake of a recent controversy surrounding India s exported food spices, the Central Government has directed all state governments to conduct thorough quality testing of spices. Although both the Spices Board and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had initiated routine sampling earlier, no conclusive statements regarding spice quality have been released by these or any other governmental bodies.
