British Indians have supported efforts to raise £3 million for India in two weeks, says Manoj Badale British Indians have supported efforts to raise £3 million for India in two weeks, says Manoj Badale Ishani Duttagupta | TNN | May 13, 2021, 13:15 IST Manoj Badale The British Asian Trust, which was founded by Charles, the Prince of Wales, in 2007, has launched an emergency appeal in the UK, with support from the Indian diaspora, to help save lives in India in the midst of the terrible Covid19 pandemic. Manoj Badale, co-founder of UK-based digital venture capital firm Blenheim Chalcot and the lead owner of Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals, is also chairman of the Trust. He spoke to Ishani Duttagupta about the huge efforts by British Indians to create a platform for those suffering and in need of help in India. Excerpts from the interview.

Clifford Chance employees have given thousands of pounds to get oxygen to Covid patients in India. The country has been in the grip of a deadly second wave of the disease with thousands of deaths being reported each day.  Following Indian federal and state government incompetence typified by the health minister declaring in March that India was in the endgame of the pandemic , the latest wave of Covid has overwhelmed the healthcare system, and many hospitals have closed their doors to new patients.   Moved by the harrowing images of relatives watching their loves ones die on stretchers outside the hospital doors , some CC employees set up a fundraiser to rush oxygen concentrators to India s Covid hotspots. The firm has a team of nearly 700 in India.
