Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a number of welfare measures for children who lost their parents to Covid-19, including ensuring a corpus of Rs 10 lakh when they turn 23 years of age and providing for their education. The government will also ensure free education for such children. Meanwhile, Covid-19-induced lockdown in Delhi would be extended until June 7. As of now, there are 2.77 crore Covid-19 cases in India, with the country recording the lowest daily spike in the last 45 days. The active caseload in the country has further declined to 22,28,724 as active cases decreased by 1,14,428 in 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry data released on Saturday. Also, the recovery rate in the country has climbed up to 90.80 per cent and the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 21 crore.
