An Allerdale councillor has called for action after a new traveller encampment was set up in a west Cumbrian town. The new encampment, opposite the old Moorclose Leisure Centre at the end of Ashfield Road in Moorclose, Workington, is the second one that has been set up in the area. Independents Allerdale Borough Councillor for Moorclose and Mossbay, Stephen Stoddart said: “Workington is turning into a dumping ground and it’s affecting peoples’ lives. If this happened in Keswick, people would be going crazy. “It costs us a fortune, and we’re wasting all this money moving travellers from A to B to C.
